2014 in Review

What an amazing year, well maybe not exactly true but definitely an exhausting one.

The start of the year for most would start off slowly but for me the roller coaster was already on full throttle. Work just ran on from 2013 in the same hectic way it finished. Let’s see if we can break it down a bit…….

January

  • Let’s see, oh yeah….I had another birthday (no that’s not a highlight), just a fact.
  • Daisy had her first trip to the Oxley and oh boy, wasn’t it a bit of fun and a half.
  • We attended another Straya Day Extravaganza.

February

  • Karruah River Rally, camping…..yeah! Between Dungog and Gloucester in the state park. A beautiful area, serene, picturesque, a millions starts at night and Karl – what more could a girl ask for.
  • Well I had my first off, thankfully nothing big and it was on dirt. Survived and had a smile on my face.
  • First FarRide for the year FRE#28-Nambucca. Met with a couple of hooligan friends in Baraba and camped on my own in Glen Innes. An event you don’t wish to miss out one. The one FarRide where 98% of us stay and spend the time socialising.
  • Not to forget Karl and my anniversary.

March – Love is in the air………

  • My best friends youngest Lindsey married her high school sweetheart Rob.
  • Another of my dearest friends Robyn also married the love of her life Ray.
  • Niece and Nephews birthdays.
  • We attended the annual pilgrimage to Tintaldra…my favourite place to kick back and relax.

April

  • Easter saw us head south to Tallangatta for the Great Omeo Muster.

May

  • Off to another new country town for FRE#29-Lake Cargellico with a misguided thought that there was going to be socialising afterwards so stayed the night. It’s like a step back in time this sleepy town.

June

  • This was the most epic month for the most epic adventure I’ve embarked on in my entire riding lifetime FRN#1-Darwin. 14 days on an emotional roller coaster and some testing riding conditions. But……I survived thanks to a great family and friends and most importantly the fabulous Karl.

July

  • Saw me off to the Gold Coast to work for a week. Nothing glamorous folks.

August

  • More friends are married (must be something in the air this year) Sarah & Joel in a wonderful hidden town of Bawley Point.
  • And yeah, went off to the Gold Coast again for work.

September

  • Another trip up the Oxley. A group ride this time staying at the newly re-opened Mount Seaview Resort.

October

  • Something a little bit different, we had a night out with friends Richard and Kerri at the Noodle Markets in Hyde Park.
  • The long weekend we toddled off down to Wombeyan Caves through 70 odd kays of dirt roads to get to the camp ground. Picked a nice spot and set up camp. Just a shame several hundred others had the same idea.
  • Mum’s birthday and a trip up the coast.

November – ride, ride, ride…

  • In searing heat we headed for an overnighter to Bawley Point with Sarah, Joel, Paul and Karl’s daughter.
  • Went visiting our friend Mel who’s now living in Urana.
  • Got out to have a ride with my Dad.
  • And squeezed in the final FarRide for 2014 with FRE#32-Walcha

December – Birthday’s every time I looked at the calendar….

  • First came my good friend Leonie’s milestone birthday and a celebrative lunch to boot.
  • Then another good friend Tina’s milestone birthday and a party.
  • My Sweety Karl’s birthday came along next.
  • Shortly followed by his brothers and my Dad’s birthdays around Christmas.
  • Somehow, I managed to squeeze in the Work & the SydBike Xmas Parties.
  • And to top it off, managed to get in a group ride to Bylong.

No wonder I feel exhausted, it’s made me tired just reflecting back…..lol

In total for the year in riding, I managed to clock up 26,084 kms (which isn’t a bad effort considering I don’t commute on the bike).

So there’s my year in a nutshell. There were lots of highs and many lows too, but if life were too easy it wouldn’t be interesting now would it.
